if it didn't get labelled as the most amazing movie of our generation, I would have rated it higher. I went into the cinema expecting some huge fight scenes that lasted a lot longer, with better use of their powers, and teamwork with everyone included. However the final battle seemed rushed and a lot of people who deserved to shine didn't get to.
The Russo brothers told us that they couldn't cut it shorter than 3 hours, but there were a lot of useless scenes used for comedic effect. This would make the first half of the movie really drag on if you love the franchise because of all it's action.
I understand that you can't please everyone, but it feels like this was made mostly to please the majority of the fans who wanted a happy ending, thus losing their focus on making a complex story without continuity errors.
I feel somewhat disappointed that Thor and/or Hulk barely got to show their new potential. They stripped away Thor's power to make people laugh, and I would've been okay with it if he was only like that for a portion of the film, and not the whole thing. There should have been better character development for him and the Hulk. How amazing would it have been for Hulk to be able to cause the same amount of damage but in a smarter way, and for Thor to go from feeling the worst he's ever felt to finally getting his vengeance.
They chose the lazy solution of time travel and they didn't even plan the easiest way to acquire the stones, instead of time travelling to the point where thanos was in deep sleep, before Peter woke him up, they decided to time travel to a few iconic moments and scenery from past movies to make the audience feel nostalgic. After all it was the end of that phase.
They focused a lottttt on the emotive side and tried to give the characters the ending that they thought they deserved, so much so that it feels like it's lacking in other major areas. We wanted Thor with his pent up anger, Hulk's revenge, and those who got killed by the snap to come back and give us an insane visually mind blowing scene.
Definitely a lot of plus sides from this movie, like the graphics and acting, but also a lot of continuity errors, confusing, and boring moments too.
To me it's just not worth a 9.
